The aim of this immersion project is to experience living with an American family for two weeks. This involves getting to know their culture and daily life at home and at school, and offers an opportunity to improve their command of the English language. It is an enriching experience with enormous benefits in the academic and personal development of each student.
The school offers this program to their 3rd of ESO students and the exchange is with Long Trail School in Dorset, Vermont. It is a High School in which educational values are shared and worked every day, as we do in Santa María del Pino School.
Our students are leaving on October 16th until the 30th. After a long trip by plane to New York and a four-hour bus journey, they will be welcomed by Vermont’s incredible landscape in autumn; with greens, oranges, yellows, browns, maroons, …and of course, all the host families ready to make their American dream come true!
We must bear in mind that although tourism is not the main goal for this trip, several places will be visited throughout their stay, such as an overnight trip to Burlington, a mountain resort, etc.
Both schools are looking forward to enjoying this experience and are therefore working hard getting everything ready. In the pictures you can see the last meeting before departure where all the different activities were explained, the flight information was given, the backpacks were handed out,…and the most exciting… the two-week schedule. An amazing experience which started today and will last until April, when our school will welcome the American exchange students.
Good luck Adrià, Andrea, Carles, Claudia, David, Laia, Martina, Natalia, Sergi and Anna. Safe travels!!
